With more meat eaters turning to plant-based diets nowadays, restaurants are starting to get serious with their vegetarian menus. However, it’s often a struggle to find the good ones in Hong Kong. Therefore, we asked your favourite food bloggers their favourite vegetarian dishes in Hong Kong, to inspire and spice up your meatless eating game.
Who says vegetarian food is boring? Pici, my favourite pasta bar in Hong Kong, has showcased how to elevate a vegetarian dish into a whole new level. Their signature Truffle Taglioni never disappoints! Perfect balance of flavours with each strand evenly coated with a scrumptious white truffle paste. Topped with a generous amount of freshly shaved black truffles that makes this vegetarian dish irresistible. Hands down one of the best pasta I’ve ever had!
With the recent burning of the Amazon Rainforest, it’s a tragic reminder that raising cattle and other animals for consumption is not sustainable. That’s why eating less meat or going vegetarian/vegan will help combat deforestation. An all-time favourite of mine when I skip meat would definitely be an avocado toast. It’s great for a breakfast or brunch as it packs a ton of healthy fats and nutrients. The Avocado Toast with Fried Egg from the newly opened vegetarian hotel restaurant – VEDA tastes absolutely divine. The crisp from the egg whites and the crunch from the toasted sourdough contrast the silky avocado slices and creamy egg yolk perfectly.
I love everything that is pleasant to the eye and the tastebuds. Therefore, my pick can only be the Lotus Pond from Madame Fu. It is an absolute piece of art on all sensory levels. It’s delicate and light to the palate, rounded on the smell and beautiful to the eye. You can judge for yourself with this stunning photo!
