Dishtaggers of The Week #16

Posted on August 21, 2020 by admin

Here is the best of what our foodie community “dish-tagged” this week on our social app! This week we feature a nice variety of home cooked food, takeaways, and some of our favourite dishes from restaurants that we hope we can enjoy soon at dinner time. Congratulations to those featured and thank you to all who contributed to our growing community this week.

As a reminder, we feature the best 4 photos uploaded to our app every week in this blogpost, and announce the winners on Instagram. Why not start uploading your favourite food photos from your archive or taken this week and get the chance to be featured next week?

The Home-baked goodies by @foodiewm

Foodiewm exceeded all expectations here both as a baker and photographer. These cookies look like the crunchiest and most delicious and the photography & composition give them all the justice they deserve!

Loving how all the elements are placed at an angle that creates movement in this beautiful flat lay. Nice use of props and gorgeous natural light! We just wished they sold these cookies somewhere so we could rush there to get them!

The takeaway yakitori by @wtsinurmouth

With all the social distancing measures in place in 2020, never before have we all eaten so many takeaways and deliveries! And we all know that disposable containers are not the most charming, nor photogenic.

So big thumbs up to @wtsinurmouth who managed to take a great snap of these takeaway yakitori trays. Great composition, which is minimal but curated, very much in “Japanese style”. Lovely natural light and good use of the top shot angle.

The moody sushi vibes taken at Silencio by @aboutkris_x

Here’s a dish from one of our favourite restaurants, Silencio: great Izakaya food, dark and artsy vibes and live music make the recipe for a perfect NIGHT OUT… We haven’t had one of those in awhile!

We love how the light shines one the food and showcases the difference in texture of the 6 types of tuna.

We’ve chosen this picture for its beauty but also for the story it tells us and the memories of all the nice dinners we had at Silencio and elsewhere that now we cherish as something very special.

The European summer meal taken at La Rambla by @sikfeinei

Last but not least we have another great picture that reminds us of long summer travels in Europe and endless days at the beach… TRAVELS, also a rarity nowadays.

The slight side/top angle in this picture works really well to showcase the paella but also to give volume to the prawns that from a straight top shot could otherwise look flat. The warm colours and the natural light create a beautiful “bright & airy” feeling that reminds us of summer holidays.

In the hope that things return to “normality” soon, we choose to dine responsibly and wish that our fellow foodies stay safe and do the same. Use our app to keep up-to-date with where foodies feel safe eating out for lunch and what they are munching at home with the “no dinner service” measures still in place.

We feature the best photos uploaded to our app every week across our blog, newsletter and Instagram, so why not join our community today. Start uploading your favourite food photos  – and get the chance to be featured next week.
