What Dishtaggers want: burgers!

Posted on June 18, 2019 by admin

A picture is worth a thousand words, they say. Yet, sometimes a little remark from your social food network can put a certain dish top of mind when you are faced with a long feed of inspiring dish photos. So if you need something extra besides our palate-stimulating photos to pick your next dining spot, we have a created a new series called ‘What dishtaggers want’ to help your food journey. Each week we ask your favourite food bloggers what’s top of their list for a certain dish, and this week it’s….burgers!

A couple weeks ago, we talked about the trending Impossible Burger in Hong Kong, so we asked Eric, Jacie and Andre this week about their favourite burgers. Let’s dig in to their recommendations.

Eric (@ericsgeography) – Beyond Burger from Green Common

There are a lot of imitation meats out there for vegetarians/vegans, but none of them look or taste quite like the Beyond Burger. We all know that stare you do when you spot your stacked-up burger approaching, it’s the same with this one at Green Common as you drool over the patty’s glistening surface and perfectly charred grill marks. As you take a big bite into your burger, juices flow naturally onto your palette, leaving behind an earthy taste. Its texture is unique, sort of granular and chewy, at the same time has that satisfying feeling of biting into something substantial. Give Beyond Burger a try and be wowed!

Andre (@_c.andre) – The Notorious P.I.G. Burger from Beef & Liberty

Talking about burgers, my favourite goes to the Notorious P.I.G. from Beef and Liberty. I first tried it at their pop-up in PMQ, where they served a slightly different menu from the restaurant. The Notorious P.I.G. burger was particularly delicious as it was packed with rich and juicy pulled pork, tangy apple slaws and two to three cracklings. It was so addictive and I love pairing with their sweet potato fries too!

Jacie (@foodiejacie) – Beyond Burger from Green Common

This is undoubtedly THE BEST vegan burger I have ever had. The Beyond Burger looks exactly like a normal burger (and yes, a big one). Not only does the Beyond meatless patty look very similar to a beef patty with its colour and texture, it DOES taste like beef to a large extent! It’s very juicy, ‘tender’ and nicely flavoured. Together with the soft buns, very generous portion of avocado and vegan cheese, it makes a perfect healthy burger, free of hormones/GMO and less greasy (and thus evil) in general, with which non-vegans, like me, will still be obsessed.
