Best Thanksgiving Spreads

We’ve scoured Hong Kong for amazing Thanksgiving feasts on offer this year. As well as a couple of Asian inspired Thanksgiving options.

As we near the end of a pretty bizarre 2020, we approach the start of the season of reflection, beginning with Thanksgiving next week. And despite the challenges many have endured this year, the one thing we can always be thankful for is great friends, loving family and incredible food. These are Dishtag’s selection of some of the best looking Thanksgiving spreads around!

Limewood

Limewood has been a firm favourite of Hong Kongers from the day it opened. For Thanksgiving this year they’ve created a special menu to be shared at their beachfront venue. The 4-person sharing menu ($440/person) comes with Turkey and all the trimmings, including Grilled Pineapple, Corn Bread and Pecan Pie. The menu is available for one day only on November 26. Advance booking is required.

Franks

As one of the go to spots in Hong Kong for New York-style Italian American food, of course Franks is serving up a classic American Thanksgiving feast. Available from November 24-29 for dinner only ($548 per person), Turkey will be complemented by a lineup of the usual sides. Think Mashed Potatoes, Brussels Sprouts and Stuffing. And for an additional $298/person, there’s a 2 hour free-flow option. Advance booking is required.

Duck & Waffle

The iconic British restaurant has settled in well in IFC. And this year Duck & Waffle have put together a feast of Thanksgiving delights. The sharing menu ($2,300) is good for 4-6 people and includes a Whole Roasted Turkey, Maple-Glazed Cornbread, Mashed Potatoes and Creamed Greens. And if you’re still hungry, they’ve got a Southern Pecan Pie to finish the meal in style. Bookings 3 days in advance are required. And if you can’t get a table, they also allow takeaway.

Mr Brown

Mr Brown brings Thanksgiving buzz to Ship Street in Wanchai with their one day only Thanksgiving menu ($488/person) available on November 26. The Smoked Roast Turkey platter is definitely the centrepiece of the meal. But Mr Brown also offer some of their signature dishes as starters including their Housemade English Muffins Stuffed with Iberico Pork or Pastrami, and Whipped Mackarel served with FIsh Roe and Pretzel Bread. Advance booking is required. But if you miss out on Thanksgiving, you’ll get a second chance at the feast for a few days during Christmas.

Westwood Carvery

Westwood Carvery has long been an institution in Central best known for their Prime Rib. For Thanksgiving this year you can order a Turkey feast ($1,998) that showcases a massive 16lb Slow-roasted Turkey and is served with all the trimmings. Good for 8-12 people, the feast comes with House Stuffing, Waldorf Salad, French Beans and Mashed Potatoes. And for those wanting their classic Prime Rib fix, they also have a Prime Rib feast ($2,298/$3,498) that’s good for 6-8 or 8-12 people respectively.

Morty’s Delicatessen

Morty’s unique take on a Thanksgiving feast ($2,388) includes Roasted Turkey, Roasted Vegetables, Mashed Potatoes, Sweet Potato Fries and all the trimmings. But where they’ve set themselves apart is by incorporating their house-made Pastrami into their stuffing. Good for 6-8 people, the menu also includes a choice pie for dessert. The menu is available for pickup or takeaway only until December 31. 5 days advance order required.

Mott 32

As a purveyor of some of the finest Chinese food in town, we had to include Mott32‘s take on a Chinese-style Thanksgiving feast ($1,880). Their interpretation is a riff on the classic Peking Duck. Simply subbing in a Turkey as the poultry of choice. The Turkey is served 3 ways. First off roasted, carved and served with Pancakes. This is followed by 2 courses of Shredded Turkey Salad and Minced Turkey with Prawn Cracker and Water Chestnut. The Peking Turkey is available throughout the festive season from Nov 26-Dec 30. 48-hour advance booking required.

Poem

If you’re missing the vibes of Bali, Poem in Lan Kwai Fong does a good job of transporting you there with their decor and authentic Balinese food. For Thanksgiving this year, they’re serving up Duck Panggang ($688). This is a Free-range Whole Duck slow-roasted Lombok-style in Banana Leaf. The bird is served alongside portions of Gado-Gado Salad, Potato Perkedel Fritters and their Signature Sambals. Pre-order is required and availability is limited.
